The Oaks Butchery was started in 1942 at the current premises by Deneane Cranfield (Coogan’s) Grandfather Bill Coogan, in partnership with Bill Soilen after World War II. In the past 7 decades The Oaks Butchery has continued to provide customers with a full paddock to plate experience offering local produce under the ownership of James and Deneane Cranfield. The Cranfield/Coogan families have been produce suppliers in the local district for over 100 years with the Cranfield family farming Springfields and Brookes Flat at Mount Hunter, and Wheelsby on the Cawdor Valley Plain, and the Coogan family offering fresh produce such as fruit, grocery and meat merchants in the local district.
James, Deneane and the team strive to give you the best experience, with our modern retail self-serve butchery and over 100 years of combined experience from our highly skilled and talented staff members that has been handed down by generations.
The Oaks Butchery brand has become a household staple in supplying the very finest quality meats using traditional butchering techniques in Macarthur, Wollondilly and the Southern Highlands areas and has been a proud tradition since 1942.


We have won several product awards for our in-house smoked ham and bacon at the Sydney Royal Show, our in-house made pies at Sydney Royal Show, and sausages and burgers in our State Meat Industry Council.
